The play addresses a social issue regarding some fathers who treat their daughters as commodities to be bought and sold.

In the play, we see the character of Abu Musa'ad, a greedy man who sets impossible demands for his daughter's suitor, such as lavish wedding halls and gold.

One day, another man, wealthy and able to meet these demands, arrives, and Abu Musa'ad tries to sabotage his daughter's marriage in order to marry her off to the rich merchant.
